The Vertical/ Single Acting/ Reciprocating type Expansion Engine offered by us mainly comprises three units; Drive Unit, Cylinder Unit for the purpose of air expansion and Hydraulic System for valve operation. This type of engine finds wide application in number of industrial segments. Accurately designed and constructed, is it also equipped with an extended crankshaft further allowing accommodation of the cam box. The High Pressure Expansion Engine find usage in liquid plants.
It is Single acting dry running/ Vertical type engine with bursting disc for safety, hydraulic valve control and completed with a flywheel. Besides, quality approved parts like motor, pressure gauges, motor pulley, belt guard, V belts, inter connecting copper Pipes (Inlet & Outlet with A.S.U.) and slide rails make the Expansion Engine efficient as well as highly reliable.
Air enters the cylinder in downward motion and then expands. Expanded air gets pushed out in the upward stroke. With the use of an electric motor, machine is initially started. Thereafter, the expansion engine moves by air pressure itself and meanwhile the engine motor acts as a brake & helps in retaining the speed. Since, all the work is done by air in rotation of flywheel, it loses the heat content (enthalpy) further resulting in cooling down of air.
The fundamental factor for functioning of Expansion Engine is to use dry carbon di-oxide free air, or otherwise ice/ dry ice will appear on the valve seats leading to malfunction. Approximate temperature drop across the Expansion Engine ranges from 50Â°C to 70Â°C, depending on inlet cam position, inlet air pressure and temperature.
